We absolutely love this vacation package! World-renowned olive oil, delectable truffles and outstanding wines are synonymous with autumn in Umbria, Italy, so we created an Umbrian vacation package that combines all three. You’ll actually participate in the gathering and pressing of olives, join a local farmer and his dog on a countryside search for the coveted Italian truffle and enjoy a private visit to one of our favorite wineries. You’ll experience these Umbrian traditions from a characteristic stone farmhouse — with all modern comforts. The entire house, surrounded by ancient olive groves and sweeping views of Tuscany and Umbria, is reserved just for you during your one-week stay. You can easily reach a train station within a few minutes drive of your accommodations (Rome, Florence and Siena are a short train ride away), and we happily include side-trip itineraries for spectacular villages and sites nearby. This autumn adventure is unforgettable!

In addition to a large kitchen and living room (both with fireplaces), dining room, sitting room, laundry facilities, terraces, barbecue patio, and large swimming pool, accommodations at Il Sorbo also include:
- 2 master bedrooms with double beds and full baths
- 1 large bedroom with double bed (hallway access to full bath)
- 1 bedroom with 2 single bunk beds
- 1 bedroom with 1 single bed (additional sleeping cot available)

Tour Details
Day 3: Umbrian Countryside (Truffle Search)
Be sure to wear good walking shoes today, because you're heading to the Umbrian countryside to search for a much sought-after delicacy — the Umbrian truffle — what a special experience! A relative of the mushroom, but with a richer, indescribable flavor, the expensive truffle is an important part of Umbrian cooking. After your search, local truffle expert, Doriana Moretti, will serve antipasti made with truffles before escorting you next door to enjoy a delicious regional lunch at our friends’ restaurant.
Day 5: Olive Collecting and Pressing Experience*
The slightly spicy, greenish gold olive oil of Umbria is regarded as some of the best in all of Italy. So, after helping to gather ripe olives from the ancient trees of Il Sorbo (only possible the first part of November) you’ll have the unforgettable experience of traveling to a nearby frantoio where you’ll watch the pressing process and sample the just-pressed oil with toasted Umbrian bread. After this fabulous experience you’ll enjoy lunch at a nearby tarttoria.
*Weather permitting. If necessary, olive harvest will take place on an alternate day.
Day 7: Ficulle and Montegabbione (Winery Tours and Tastings)
The wine world has discovered Umbrian vino, and so have we! Today, you’ll venture off the beaten strada to sample some of the region’s best wines. From a castle winery in the forest to an impressive estate surrounded by vineyards, you’ll enjoy private tastings and tours. And since we’re providing the transportation, you don’t have to worry about tasting and driving! After your special visits you’ll be heading to a favorite trattoria for a fabulous four-course lunch.
